Description of work: The site which was to be developed for several blocks of new houses located in Hayes, Greater London - Bromley. The geology comprised a variable thickness of made ground over London Clay.
An old clay pit was found within the site confines and showed the pit to be nearly 15m deep in the centre. In Addition to the initial boreholes a series of Cone Penetration Tests were used to profile the site and determine the ????? between the made ground and the London Clay. Using this data tthe site was contoured to show the extent of the pit.
The surface plot also shows the pile positions for the new houses, which allowed precast piles to be drriven to a designed penetration into London Clay.
